Fun Facts:
Opal is October's birthstone!
Precious opals are mineraloids comprised of small droplets of silicate materials. Because of their composition, they sparkle and/or shine in colorful hues. Since they look like tiny rainbows, ancient civilizations considered them highly lucky. They were so popular that by the Middle Ages, MANY people wore them. However... this was also when the Black Death hit. Due to the unfortunate confluence of these two circumstances, opals became associated with death and evil curses. But, people in the Middle Ages were idiots. Opals are gorgeous and scientifically fascinating!
